Our Model

We develop puberty resources with boys and for boys. Our books are developed in collaboration with adolescent health experts from Columbia University to ensure that the content is factually and scientifically correct. To develop each book, we conduct participatory research with boys, capturing the perspectives of young people growing up today, and incorporating their stories alongside factual guidance on the physical and emotional changes of puberty.

Research

We facilitate participatory research with boys across the USA about their questions and experiences with puberty

Create Content

We select the young people’s stories to include along with factual information

Illustrate

We work with a local illustrator to illustrate and lay out the book

Gather Feedback

We field test the book with boys, parents, teachers, and experts and finalize the book’s content and illustrations

Distribute

We share copies of the book with youth-focused nonprofit organizations, schools, and libraries

Being cool is important to our 10-year-old, and this book has managed to make puberty cool. It’s helped us make the conversation with him about this important but potentially awkward topic fun and meaningful.
